The heat of the future's glow

I've got pictures!!

Thursday night, after the rehearsal, the girls went to Denny's (where else?) to hang out, and where else could I possibly give Laura her lingerie shower gift? I missed the shower, but the gift was just as good when given during a Denny's night! See, Laura used to wear a candy necklace all the time during high school, so when I went into Dylan's Candy Bar a few months ago and saw a bra and g-string made out of candy... well, there was really no other option.

The wedding was beautiful. Simple, elegant, classic. The wedding party was in bare feet for the ceremony--something that Laura has wanted at her wedding for as long as I've known her. She's always loved the symbolism of being barefoot on holy ground (a la Moses at the burning bush), and what ground is more holy than that celebrating and entering into a marriage covenant? Plus, it's a lot easier on the feet than some heels I've worn as a bridesmaid!

Laura and I before the ceremony (check out the dress--mine was falling down! Since I wasn't around for enough fittings, Mom sewed it too big, and so I had to have it pinned to various parts of me all day).

I had the coolest buddy of the wedding--and, seriously, Edwin is the coolest buddy I've had yet, for any wedding I've been a bridesmaid in. And, of course, this was the one where we spent the least time with our buddies. How disappointing. Ah well... what can you do?

Laura and Ed cutting the cake--the cakes had their engagement picture screened onto them, which was very cool. Horses and ranches, even on the cake! It made decorating easy, though. They had the ceremony and reception at the Cochrane Ranche House, and the room itself was decoration enough. Laura didn't need anything else, which meant that we didn't have to stay for half the night taking stuff down (a very nice choice on her part!).

Not only did I have the coolest wedding party partner--I also had the coolest dance partner...

... times two! (dancing with both Jakob and Aaron).

And, just for the cute factor...

Mommy and Auntie give Jakob kisses! Does it get any cuter than that? I don't think so.

So... it was a busy week, and somehow I managed to fit in the wedding (and rehearsal), as well as scheduled hang-out times with Kat, Laurel, Kim, Janna, Vanessa, and (sort of) Becky; plus random run-ins at the mall or at church with numerous other people--at least 6 at the mall, and then the people I got to talk to at the wedding or at church on Sunday morning. Not bad for five days, hey?

And then I spent today at home (after I got up at 6 to take Lourenzo to school!), slept, unpacked, and tried to recuperate. Of course, now that it's time for bed, I won't be able to, but that's the price I pay for not falling asleep at my desk at work, because I have no doubt that's where the day would have gone otherwise.

I'm jealous - the lingerie you gave Laura is cooler than the lingerie you gave me! :)

(just kidding)

I always have to outdo myself... it just keeps getting better and better (and weirder and weirder...)

So, in other words, I should be thankful that I got married earlier rather than later?

You realize that when you get married, there are going to be a lot of people giving you the wierdest stuff.... (and I, for one, will check to make sure that you keep it too!)
