Spitting image of her father
So I've got a dilemma.
Jen sent me a $20 amazon.com gift certificate for my birthday, and I've been trying to decide how to spend it.
Now, this gets hard to follow--so let me outline all the pieces of the plan. There's a book that I want to get, but it's for business, so I don't want to spend birthday money on it. It doesn't cost enough by itself to get free shipping, though, so I need to get something else with it, which I was going to use the birthday gift card to get.
Season 6 of Gilmore Girls is available for pre-order, and it's on sale for 35% off, so with the gift certificate, I could get the season for less than $20, which is an excellent price.
Only problem is, it's not released until Sept 19, which means that it would need to be shipped to Canada, which throws a huge wrench in the works. If I order it on amazon.com, with the other book, and have the items sent to the different addresses, I have to pay shipping on the DVDs, because the free shipping only applies to US addresses. If I order it on amazon.ca, so that I can get the free shipping to Canada, I can't use the gift certificate, so it ends up costing me full (well, sale) price.
So, my brilliant plan to get all of that without paying shipping won't work after all. Boo. So, I need to find something else to get with the gift certificate. I'm sure that won't be a problem, but I thought it was a brilliant plan, until I was thwarted by international shipping and handling.

I'm so sorry I caused such a dilemna. I promise I was trying to do something nice for you, but I couldn't afford a $40 gift certificate.
No, no, no, no!!! The dilemma's not your fault! It's just that I was trying to get too creative with how I spent it! It would be perfect to put it against a GG DVD set, but have no fear--I'll find something else to spend it on. There's no worry about that!!
Don't worry about her, Jen--she will be able to spend the money! What a predicament, but you probably got the "get the best deal" genes from me. I knew I trained you well!
Actually, I ordered something from Amazon, and in order to get my free shipping, I pre-ordered a sewing book that I wanted but that doesn't come out until fall, as well as another sewing book. Then, I checked "Send it all at once," which means neither of them will come until fall. Duh! So I can relate. However, I won't be doing that kind of sewing until much later than now, anyway!
